Girls who say high heels never hurt, lie. I’m sure. Eventually after an hour or a long day, (depends on how often you wear them) you will experience pain in the ball of your foot. Normally wedges are easier to wear for hours and hours. My feet especially start to hurt when I have to wait or stand for a couple hours. It’s easier if I walk around. I always knew it had something to do with the weight that is on the ball of your feet. But I didn’t know the exact reason. Well, there is a medical explanation for that.
The Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in Stanmore (London) has the first X-ray that makes 3D images of the foot. They helped a lot of English ladies who suffered from foot problems. Continue reading
Back in the days, when Menina was still ‘Bebe Menina’, my family and I used to go camping in France. Every year we packed our folding caravan and left Holland for La Douce France.
I remember, always trying to steal my mother’s Havaianas. She owned a pair of ‘Tradicional’. I used to sneak out of the tent, running on my mothers Havaianas to go to the bathroom. I loved the way they felt on my feet. It felt like walking on diamonds. Sometimes my mom laughed about it, but when she needed her Havaianas herself, she sometimes got a bit mad at me. Of course, I understand why, but come on!! Havaianas are like heaven on earth.
I really don’t know why I haven’t written a blogpost about these fabulous wedges before. I’ve seen them a million times on Instagram and several fashion blogs. Ever since I saw them I really wanted a pair. But well, you know, shoe no buy. Not allowed… So I tried to forget about them and didn’t look for them online.
But I couldn’t get them out of my head, so today I decided to dedicate a blogpost to this wonderful wedges.
After a quick Google, I found out Maison Martin Margiela x H&M designed the Plexi Wedge Booties and sold them for $350. Unfortunately, they are sold out and I think it’s a lot of money for something designed by H&M. Of course there are always cheaper version of the same shoe like at Choies ($137) or Polyvore ($95). About two weeks ago I got an email from Antony Ciccarelli. He is the owner of High Pheels (pronounced peels) and offered me to test the High Peels. I googled it and I got excited. Of course I wanted to do that! About a week later a package from San Antonio, Texas arrived.
High Pheels – the concept.
Have you ever looked at your pile of shoes wondering how it ever came this far? Owning the perfect heel and wishing you could change the color? Or broke as MC Hammer and really need another color heels for that perfect dress?
Antony Ciccarelli made the perfect accessory for that problem! He came up with the idea when one of his friends visited him with a suitcase filled with heels. He said: “There had to be an easier way, why not have one shoe and change out the covers.”. That’s when High Pheels were born. Currently Anthony is working on the perfect heels to fit the High Pheels. Continue reading
Sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect shoe, sometimes you just hit the jackpot right on! I love it when I immediately fall in love. These heels are the perfect example of hitting the jackpot.
Last year (SS12) my friend needed a new dress for a party, so we went shopping. One of the best places to score an awesome dress is Supertrash. Lovely crew, neat store and fabulous clothes. For those who don’t know: Supertrash is owned by business fashionista Olcay Gulsen. The story goes that Olcay bought Supertrash from It-girl Ava Riley. But there are doubts too… (Dutchies: click) because Ava Riley is nowhere to be found online. So I leave that an open question! The bottom line, Supertrash has amazing clothes and fabulous heels! I am a bit of a statistic-junk. Everyday before I go to sleep I look at the statistics of my blog. Just to see how many people visited my blog, what they were searching for and where they are from. From the day I posted this blog about Lola Shoetique, people end up on my blog because they were searching for a store like Lola Shoetique. Of course I started digging for you!
And I found a couple! First up is Bliss.
Online shoe-stores are great. You can find anything you’d like with a little bit of effort. You can get newsletters from your favorite store and online you can search by category or feature. Shoedazzle found a different approach.
Shoedazzle is founded in 2009 by Brian S. Lee and his wife. They hired our beauty princess Kim Kardashian as it’s chief fashion stylist. Nowadays Rachel Zoe is the chief fashion stylist. When you create an account, you get personalized shoes in your ‘showroom’.
Let’s take a look!
When you first enter the website, you have to take a quick fashion quiz.
